🇲🇦 about marrakech
Marrakech is a vibrant, sensory-rich city at the heart of Morocco. Known as the “Red City” for its rosy clay buildings, it’s a beautiful blend of Berber, Arab, and French colonial influences. You’ll find labyrinthine souks (markets), tranquil gardens, ornate palaces, rooftop cafés, and the soulful call to prayer echoing at dusk. It’s equal parts ancient and alive… a place that invites you to slow down, get curious, and sink into the moment.
💡 Cultural Notes
for First-Time Travelers
Language: Don’t worry if you don’t speak Arabic or French—many locals speak some English, especially in shops and restaurants. Still, learning a few phrases like shukran (thank you) or salaam (hello) is always appreciated. We will also have locals wiht our group support with translations during our guided tours.
Modesty & Dress: As a visitor in a Muslim country, dressing modestly is a respectful gesture—especially in the Medina and local areas. That means keeping shoulders, cleavage, and knees covered in public. That being said, the city is very used to tourism and tends to be more relaxed when it comes to fashion. You do not need to wear traditional Moroccan or religious clothing, and you’ll see plenty of locals and visitors dressed in modern, western styles. Inside our private villa and during movement sessions, you’re welcome to wear what feels good and comfortable—yoga sets, swimsuits, and shorts are totally fine in our safe and private retreat space. The vibe? Chic, covered, and cool—you can absolutely express your personal style while honoring the local culture.
Public Behavior: Public displays of affection are discouraged. Alcohol is available at some restaurants but not commonly found in traditional settings. Always ask before taking someone’s photo, especially in the Medina or souks.
Navigating as an American (or Western traveler): Marrakech can feel like organized chaos—full of sound, smell, color, and hustle. It’s normal to feel a bit overstimulated at first. Let yourself ease into the flow: stay aware, trust your group, and enjoy the beauty in the contrast. Haggling is part of the shopping culture—it’s expected and even fun once you get the hang of it!

final note from our founder:
As we gear up for this journey together, here’s your gentle reminder: this retreat is more than a vacation, and definitely more than just another stamp in your passport.
We didn’t come all this way just to snap the perfect photo for the 'gram or tick Morocco off a bucket list. We came to FEEL something, to get inspired, to connect deeply with ourselves, to each other, to laugh until we cry, and to see the world through a different lens.
But here’s the truth: travel is messy sometimes. Plans shift. Streets close. A camel might call in sick. Someone may just lose a sandal in the souk. And yet, those moments become the stories you’ll never forget. Traveling, especially in a place as vibrant and layered as Marrakech, is full of magic, mystery, and sometimes… a bit of chaos.
We've curated this itinerary with intention, and we’ll do everything we can to make sure your experience is joyful, meaningful, and smooth. But when things don't go according to plan — and at some point, they won’t — go with it. Embrace the detours. Laugh at the delays and trust that sometimes the unplanned moments become the most unforgettable.
We’ll always provide thoughtful alternatives and hold space for what the group needs. Just keep showing up—with curiosity, compassion, and care for one another. The energy we each bring shapes the collective experience.
This is your invitation to live the week moment by moment. To unplug, connect, and be fully here. I’m so honored to have you on this journey.
